Immerse yourself in the traditional craft of willow basketry during this two-day workshop, where you will create a sturdy and practical willow log basket while gaining a deeper understanding of the materials and techniques used by basket makers.

Over the course of the workshop, participants will learn how to select and prepare willow for weaving, exploring the characteristics of different varieties and understanding how material choice influences the finished basket. You will be guided through the process of preparing rods for weaving and constructing a strong basket suitable for carrying logs, turf or other household items.

A variety of traditional weaving techniques will be introduced, including constructing the base, pairing, waling, randing, shaping, and learning how to include incorporated handles and border work.
